Federalist Paper XLV

Author: James Madison
Purpose: To discuss the separation of powers and to go against what Montesquieu said in a separate article.

Summary:
He starts off by agreeing that the separation of powers is important, but he does not think that the Constitution violates that principle. He argues this by comparing the three branches from state government to that of the Constitution. He sees that each branch has their own individual control but that they each have a connection that is important. Therefore, the Constitution is equally fulfilling the clause of separation of powers.
