Federalist Paper XXXIX

Author: James Madison
Purpose: To question the type of government that the Framers of the Constitution wanted for the country.

Summary:
In this paper, Madison tries to define what a true republic is and he questions whether it's right for the country. He takes the known definition and ties it in with democratic principles. He mentions that the right government for the Union can be national and federal from different aspects, like when referencing how the Senate and House of Representatives are elected.
